Subject: Support of Bill 107
Aloha,
I am unable to attend and testify in person at the meeting on January 24th so this is my written testimony
to support Bill 107 without any blanket exemptions or restrictions on the study's scope such that we can
determine what pathways are possible for consideration.
I currently live in Hawaiian Shores Rec and have been a resident of lower Puna for over 15 years. There has
always been an incredible amount of traffic congestion but in the last few years this has increased to the point
of it being more than simply inconvenient. It's downright dangerous during many hours of the day. Getting to
work, to appointments and running errands currently takes much longer than it should and if there's an accident
it can be stopped for hours. Meanwhile emergency vehicles have to try to navigate the stalled traffic.
As more and more people are moving into the area, the already overburdened roadway system will only be
exacerbated. We need to conduct the study and find a viable solution to this growing problem. Having two
routes out of lower Puna is an urgent need!
