HAWAI ' I COUNTY HOUSING NEEDS
2019 Hawai`i Housing Planning Study — Hawai'i County findings:
• 10,796 housing units are needed by 2025 to meet demand of households at 140%
AMI or below. An additional 2,507 units are needed to meet demand of higher-
income households.
• 6,029 of those units are needed for renter households at 140% AMI or below.
• Update to 2019 study anticipated for release in summer 2024.
There are over 6,800 units in the County's Affordable Housing Pipeline.
• The pipeline includes projects in various stages of the development process
— from proposal to being ready to house local families.
