STATE OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. 433 24 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE 2024 OUTSTANDING OLDER AMERICANS MONTH AWARD LUNCHEON. WHEREAS, May is recognized as Older Americans Month (OAM), a time to celebrate and honor the contributions that older adults have made and continue to make in our community and our nation; and WHEREAS, OAM dates back to 1963 when President John F. Kennedy, through a proclamation, designated May as Senior Citizens Month, which was later renamed Older Americans Month; and WHEREAS, the Office of Aging, as the designated Area Agency on Aging, represents the County of Hawai`i in the planning, coordination, advocacy, and administration of programs that enable older people to live independently and with dignity; and WHEREAS, the annual Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon is an event sponsored by the Office of Aging, which honors older adults who contribute and make a difference in their communities; and WHEREAS, the 2024 Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon is scheduled to occur on May 10, 2024, as part of a national observance of OAM with this year's theme, Powered by Connection, which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful social connections and relationships have on health and well-being; and WHEREAS,the Office of Aging is requesting funds for expenses related to the 2024 Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon, which includes the seniors' lunches and awards; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to provide financial assistance for the 2024 Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
