Re: Resolution Creating Positions
The County of Hawai`i Police Department is requesting to add 33 new Police Officer I
(Temporary)positions to add to the department's Recruit Training Pool.
Enclosed is a resolution creating 33 new Police Officer I (Temporary)positions for the
Hawai`i County Police Department. These positions will accommodate the Police
Department's transition and rotation of inbound and existing Police Officer I Recruits and
support the continuous recruitment efforts to secure more law enforcement officials.

A. REQUEST:
I am requesting to obtain 33 new Training and Personnel (TP) position numbers to add to the department's
Recruit Training Pool.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The added position numbers will accommodate the transition and rotation of our inbound and existing Police
Officer I Recruits. It will also support our continuous recruitment efforts to secure more law enforcement
officials.We seek to start three classes yearly to fill current and prepare for potential department vacancies
based on retirements and separations. To execute and sustain this plan, it is realized that additional training
pool numbers are needed for the department.
