These grants will be used to provide relief, recovery, mitigation, and long-term resilience for disaster damages, losses, and suffering caused by • the 2018 Kilauea eruption. Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Planning Department to provide $3,293,400 to these organizations,pursuant to Hawai`i County Code (2016 Edition as amended) Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A). REQUEST: A resolution authorizing the award of grants through the Kilauea Recovery Grant Program to non-profit organizations in amounts more than $25,000 per Article 47 Section 2-252(f) of the HCC; and the distribution of those funds in the total amount of the awards being granted. See attached Exhibit A. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Pursuant to HCC Chapter 2, Article 47, Section 2-246 for the appropriation of disaster relief funds that the County received, or may receive, for the purpose of providing relief, recovery, mitigation, and long-term resilience for disaster damages, losses, and suffering caused by the 2018 Kilauea eruption.
