STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> •1TE OF H'� • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 438 24 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT TO <br /> AWARD FUNDS TO VARIOUS NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS <br /> THROUGH THE KILAUEA RECOVERY GRANT PROGRAM <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, the organizations specified in "Exhibit A", which correspondingly <br /> qualify as nonprofit organizations as defined above, will provide relief, recovery, <br /> mitigation, and long-term resilience for disaster damages, losses, and suffering <br /> caused by the 2018 Kilauea eruption; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Department wishes to provide a total of$3,293,400 <br /> to these organizations as outlined in "Exhibit A"; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I, in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, the Planning Department is authorized to provide grants totaling of$3,293,400 <br /> to various nonprofit organizations as specified in "Exhibit A" to provide relief, recovery, <br />
