RESOLUTION CREATING THIRTY-THREE (33) NEW POLICE OFFICER I (TEMPORARY) POSITIONS FOR THE HAWAI‘I COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Police Department is in need of thirty-three (33) new Police Officer I (Temporary) positions to add to the department’s Recruit Training Pool; and
WHEREAS, these positions will accommodate the Police Department’s transition and rotation of inbound and existing Police Officer I Recruits; and
WHEREAS, these positions are needed to support the continuous recruitment efforts to secure more law enforcement officials; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawai‘i County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to “Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council...”;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that thirty-three (33) new Police Officer I (Temporary) positions be created in the Hawai‘i County Police Department.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management, the Police Department, the Department of Human
Resources and the Department of Finance.
