Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Resolution No. 429-24,reports as follows:
Resolution 429-24,transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 711, dated January 19, 2024, authorizes the Mayor to enter into agreements with Hawai`i
Health Systems Corporation East Hawai`i Region, Hilo Medical Center.
This resolution seeks to allow Hilo Medical Center to properly dispose of infectious waste
supplied by various County agencies. Hawai`i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7 requires the
consent of the Council to enter into an agreement with the State Government.
All Committee Members present voted unanimously to forward this resolution to the Council
with a favorable recommendation.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Resolution No. 429-24, and recommends its adoption.
