REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: February 6, 2024 Re: Comm.No. 699/Res.No. 417-24 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 2:01 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 417-24, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 417-24,transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa, via Communication No. 699 <br /> dated January 19, 2024, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one <br /> fiscal year for multi-year leases for four walking floor trailers and four compacting trailers for the <br /> Department of Environmental Management. <br /> This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a five-year lease agreement with an approximate <br /> monthly cost of$17,200 for the walking trailers and $18,800 for the compacting trailers,to be used by <br /> the Solid Waste Division. <br /> Environmental Management Director Ramzi Mansour and Solid Waste Operations Department Acting <br /> Division Chief Michael Kaha were available in the Hilo Chambers to answer any questions the <br /> Committee Members may have. <br /> Mr. Mansour provided a brief overview. <br /> Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba commented on the amount of recent equipment requests the <br /> department has submitted for approval and asked Mr. Mansour if the Committee should expect to see <br /> more requests in the future. Mr. Mansour stated that the department included these requests in the <br /> county budget. <br /> Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder stated that previous requests have been made to the <br /> department to provide a spreadsheet of these requests, but the Committee hasn't received it. <br /> Mr. Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder reissued this request and said he would like to have this provided at the next <br /> hearing. _ <br /> FC Report No. 135 <br />
