Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 420-24, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 420-24,transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa, via Communication No. 702
dated January 19, 2024, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one
fiscal year for multi-year leases for two backhoes,two wheeled loaders, six roll-off trucks, and seven
truck tractors for the Department of Environmental Management.
This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into five-year lease agreements with an approximate
monthly cost of$6,800 for the two backhoes, $23,700 for the two wheeled loaders, $32,400 for the six
roll-off trucks, and$36,400 for the seven truck tractors, to be used by the Solid Waste Division.
Environmental Management Director Ramzi Mansour was available in the Hilo Chambers to answer
any questions.
The department provided a brief overview.
Multiple Committee Members commented in support of this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 420-24, and
recommends its adoption.
