On behalf of JCCIH,we are Opposed to Resolution 389-24 which repeals Council Rule N. 23(1)(d). The JCCIH understands the Council's initiative to enhance meeting efficiency through more effective governance.However, it is crucial that any changes do not inadvertently streamline bill passage without adequate public engagement. The importance of public input in decision-making is highlighted by the following: Informed Decision-Making:Public participation provides decision-makers with a diverse range of perspectives and additional facts, contributing to more well-informed decisions. Democratic Process Enhancement:Public input is integral to any democratic process, improving the knowledge base for decisions and ensuring a more transparent and inclusive decision-making process. Legitimacy and Trust: Incorporating public input fosters legitimacy and trust in the decision-making process.
