Aloha,
I am a resident of the Puna District that is concerned about the inconsistent enforcement of laws which hold dog owners
accountable for the loose or vicious dogs in their possession. The number of dog attacks in Hawaii county is alarming.
My family lived in Metro Detroit for 12 years and we never felt this level of concern for our children's safety as we do
now living in the Puna District of Hawaii County. Our 6 acres in the Hawaiian Acres subdivision is fenced and gated, yet
we consistently have loose neighborhood dogs running through our property, killing our livestock, barking at our family,
and terrorizing our children. We ask that Hawaii County bring attention to these issues and enforce the laws put in place.
to hold these irresponsible dog owners accountable.Too many residents in our neighborhood feel it's acceptable to let
their dogs run the neighborhood. They are completely unaware or unbothered by the damages their dogs are causing to
their neighbors' livestock, which for many people in this area is their livelihood. This needs to change, for the safety of
every individual living in Hawaii County.
Thank you for your consideration.
