Aloha council members
I am requesting that you support Res 430-24 urging Hawaii State Legislature to amend Chapter 142 to provide greater
Public safety against dangerous dogs by increasing ENFORCEMENT and PENALTIES against owners of such dogs.
Many of the owners of animals that are causing human and livestock injury and death,in some cases, are REPEAT dog
owners. Some saying the dog isn't theirs when the removal of the animal takes place. Often these same folks repeat the
same offences and escape being cited for the issue. Much of the "problem"situations are being dealt with by
VOLUNTEER groups that HAVE organized to meet the growing needs of our developing communities. Living in a
community that you cannot safely take a walk or ride your bike because of a few people, often
repeating offenders, seems like a problem that is surmountable. With the collected data from task force meetings with
the communities, newly formed ACPD and ALL the other resources that have developed over the decades out of sheer
necessity I am sincerely hoping this issue is being put on the front burner of community services. I would love to take my
well behaved dog on a walk on a leash in the neighborhood I've lived in for over 40 years.
Thank you for your time
