I SUPPORT Bill 131 and any and all efforts to help the people of Puna get a much-needed alternate route. I support an
alternate route for Puna. I know that such a route is referenced in the Puna Community Development Plan and
responsible lawmakers should be looking at official policy making documents like the Puna CDP when deciding the fate
of Puna. I support receiving one million from the state for a study on an alternate route for Puna.We need this road
study.
It's pretty basic in my mind.
Mahalo to Ashley Kierkiewicz, of Puna,for voting for a road study(thanks too to Jenn Kagiwada for seeing Ashley's point
of view). Mahalo to Ashley for trying to rectify the wrongdoing the Council majority did last week in killing an
appropriations bill outlining a million to be spent on a PMAR road study.
Whether it's Mauka or Makai or BOTH, Puna needs an alternate route;we need all the connector routes spelled out in
the Puna CDP, quite frankly.
I support Bill 131. I support Ashley's efforts and her sensibility on this issue. I pray more sensible council members join
Ashley and Jenn in supporting a road study for Puna.
I cannot imagine I should have to take a day off of work to go sit in Council Chambers to say exactly this. But if you really
need me to present and to say this with fervor and passion, I'll be there. Second best, I can jump on a Zoom call and
really just bellow this out to you via Zoom, in hopes you hear this message loud and clear.
