Subject: supporting Bill 131-24 (Puna Alternate Route)/bike and ped addition
Dear Council,
I am a resident of Lower Puna and we clearly need an alternate route for traffic congestion but most importantly if Hwy
130 is closed down because of an emergency or lava flow.
Please fund the$2 million (1 million from the county)for the study to explore options. Let's not make the same mistake
of Highway 130.
As part of the study, a continuous and dedicated bike and pedestrian path must be included to
make this feasible for people in Puna to get out of their cars and into a multi-modal approach to
our transportation challenges. The bike/ped path would add greatly to the livability of Lower
Puna with added tourism and economic growth.
