I support Bill 131, which allocates money for a Puna Alternate Route study.
There are a variety of feeder roads that could be built through Shipman land from Shower Drive in HPP to
merge cars onto Highway 130 without sending everyone through the Shower Drive/Hwy 130 intersection.
There is also the Hilo Bypass route that could go from the intersection of Hwy 11 and 130 towards Hwy 2000
across what is mostly state land.
Thank you to Councilwoman Kierkiewicz for creating a new bill that gives Puna residents the alternate route
study that the State is offering to help fund.
