Hello and happy Wednesday-
My name is Roberto Valencia and I would like to express my support for this bill to move forward. My family and I reside
in Hawaiian Shores Recreation Estates in Puna. My wife and I both work in Hilo,and my daughter is in the Keaau school
district. Our current work/school commute times are approximately 75 minutes.
There was an incident a few years ago in which there was an accident on the Keaau-Pahoa bypass by the transfer station
during the morning commute.The road was closed and traffic was at a standstill for hours.After approximately 60
minutes of not moving, my daughter and I turned around and went home. Fortunately all we lost was a day of work and
school. Had ours been an actual emergency, we could have lost much more.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my testimony and I ask the committee(s)to move this bill forward.
