HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0715.051 2022-2024 p/Fc mill 13i CAM,716 From: Kathleen Weber Sent: Monday, February 5, 2024 1:30 PM To: Council Testimony Subject: Bill 131-24 Testimony Dear Council Members, The bill Ashley Kierkiewicz is introducing is critical to the livelihood of our Puna Community.The traffic build up around the circles in Pahoa is horrible both ways.The traffic going into Hilo adds an extra hour on my commute into Hilo in the morning and is even worse heading back home in the evening.The traffic backs up all the way to Keaau onto Rt 130 feeding into Rt 11 heading down to Hilo in the morning commute, bumper to bumper crawling speed.The evening commute is equally terrible backing up all the way to the police station in Pahoa to the circle heading to Hilo and in the opposite direction Rt 11 heading to Rt 130 and then bumper to bumper crawling from Shower Rd to the 1st circle in Pahoa. It starts as early as 3:00 in the afternoon. Something needs to be done about this. I live in HPP and just to go into Pahoa anytime from 3:00 and after, it can take 15 minutes to get out of Makuu onto Rt 130. In my opinion this is a very critical issue.
