Subject: Puna Alternate Routes Study
It is imperative we have this study and create a second route out of Puna.
During the 2018 eruption there was only highway 130; but the highway was cracked and hoand impassable for those in
Kalapana, Kaimu, Opihikau etc.
When Kapoho had to be evacuated with highway 132 cut off by lava, only Government Beach Road, which is atrocious on
a good day, was the only escape to reach Hawaiian Shores & Hawaiian Beaches for access to Kahakai St.
When you ignore the necessity of an alternate route, you risk life & limb of your constituents.
Puna is the fastest growing district and the only affordable living left to us.
This is a Do Or Die decision. Don't forsake us!
