Aloha Council Chair Kimball and Council Members:
I am pleased to nominate Steve Hirakami of District 4 to the Fire Commission.
Steve is a long-time resident of Hawai`i Island, having lived here for 50 years. He was born in
Honolulu and graduated from Roosevelt High School. From 1994 to 2001,he worked at Pahoa
High School in various roles before becoming the founding Principal of the Hawai`i Academy of
Arts and Sciences Public Charter School in 2001.
In addition to his professional career, Steve has also volunteered his time and expertise to various
county organizations, including the Board of Appeals, Public Access, Open Space and Natural
Resources Preservation Commission, and the Water Board. If confirmed, he will serve a term
ending December 31, 2028.
