I have been attacked and bitten by two dogs in my lifetime. In both cases, it was unwarranted and I suffered tremendous trauma, was disfigured and I lost the use of my fine motor skills in my right hand. In the first case, I was responding to a friend's request for me to check on her son who was home alone.Their dog was tethered but had a long enough chain that he was able to hide under my van so when I came back to my van to go home, the dog came out and attacked me viciously. It was unexpected and shocking. Because I fell backwards, I fell out of its range due to the chain and that saved my life but my hand was damaged severely and the dog also punctured under both arms from the force of its paws. It was a very big rotweiler. The incident destroyed my friendship as well because they continued to let their dog run freely around the area where my family often went hiking and walking. The second incident occurred when my daughters were visiting with a family who let them ride their horses and when it was time to go and I picked them up,their dog attacked me and bit me on both legs as I stood outside my truck waiting for my girls to come. The family was horrified and put the dog down later on. I was disfigured and suffered much pain over many months. My 75 year-old mother lives in HPP where there are numerous dogs that roam the streets and are a threat to her safety. There are too many people who have been killed by dogs in Puna. I worry for my mother's safety. Please support this resolution. Momilanionakupunaaloha Nu'uhiwa 1 C) Comm. s. .. • Ref. To: h1! 1 Ref. Date FFR 2 1 2024
