I live in Ocean View, where Mr. Bob Northrop was killed by dogs. I Since I have lived here,a person has been pulled off of a moped by dogs and sent to the ICU,there have been many dog bites, and it makes for a dangerous environment. Parents can't walk down the street with their keiki. Kupuna can't take walks in their neighborhood. I even avoid driving down certain streets because the dogs are aggressive and will cause my car for blocks. Some of these dogs, but many are not. Many have owners who just don't care. There has to be some sort of punitive measure for them.We have to take our communities back. There has to be consequences. As a mental health counselor, I can tell you that grief is much worse when there is no closure. Families on our island deserve safety. When someone's apathy causes harm, there needs to be accountability and that is what we are asking for! Mahalo for passing this resolution and doing all that you can to ensure the we can be safe in our neighborhoods.
