Subject: Support for Funding Alternate routes 131 Study
Aloha Hawaii County Council,
The Health and Safety of the people of Puna and Hawaii Island require alternate routes due to fire,traffic accidents or
lava incursions.
If the county and the county general plan is to continue to approve the growth and building in Puna it is absolutely
essential.
People's quality of life,the impact on the environment are also to be taken into consideration.The County should Fund
the study.
The county should also continue to explore eminent domain of shipman lands if necessary to accomplish this, and
continue the conversations with DHHL to keep all options open.While path through Panewa is not appropriate
some DHHL land may become necessary to move forward and these options may need to be considered.
