Aloha Council Members,
I write in full support of Resolution 438-24, and appreciate your kind consideration. After the historic
eruption of 2018, our Kealoha lands were left in a kipuka in Pohoiki. Fissure #16  covered our
access roads which lead to our 500 acres of agriculture lands.
For generations we have farmed our lands, which also produced the sweetest papaya (16 on the
scale utilized for sweetness). My Grandfather, James K. Kealoha, had his own farm located on these
lands, and was very successful in papaya production. We are dedicated to his legacy, and will
continue to provide affordable lands for all farming ventures.
We are humbled, and thankful for the grant awarded to restore our access roads on our Kealoha
lands. Mahalo nui for your support in our eruption recovery, and appreciate being part of the recovery
efforts. Mahalo nui to Malama o Puna, who graciously applied for our road restoration grant. We
imua kakou, with our Kupuna guidance and blessings.
