REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: February 20, 2024 Re: Comm.No. 727/Res.No. 437-24 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:00 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 437-24,reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 437-24,transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa, via Communication <br /> No. 727 dated February 1, 2024, creates thirty-three new temporary Police Officer I positions for the <br /> Police Department. <br /> This resolution establishes additional positions for the Police Department's Recruit Training Pool to <br /> allow for the transition and rotation of inbound and existing Police Officer I recruits. <br /> Area II Field Operations Bureau Major Sherry Bird was available in the Kona Chambers to provide <br /> background information and answer any Committee questions. <br /> Multiple Committee Members commented in support of this measure.
