St. Joseph Elementary School shares the playground with the general public and was very grateful for the Council's support for this project. Through the efforts of Councilwoman Bobby Jean Leithead-Todd and Ms. Cindy Lucas, former St. Joseph graduate, the playground equipment was paid for and installed for all the children's' use. Our children particularly made good use of the equipment and your efforts are very much appreciated by the students, parents, and faculty at St. Joseph Elementary School. In an effort to show our support to the County Council several of our school families would like to donate park benches for the Keikiland Playground. I am attaching a photo of the bench type and durability. We would like the Council to know that their efforts are much appreciated. This is but a small way for us to give back to the community, which has supported our children. We are seeking Council approval for three (3) park benches. In speaking with Officer Jason Shinoda, Community Policing Officer, we will coordinate placement of said benches with the Hilo Police Department to provide visibility and security. Upon Council approval we will make the necessary contacts for placement and installation. If there are additional steps we must take, please advise us. We look forward to a continued good relationship with your office and the County Council. We will wait for further communication with your office. Again thank you for ygpfipast support ta:therehildren of Hilo. - - - - a.ta IIVMVH % 1,!i.i' ~ Sincerely, },0 g WO Lj 4i3~ 00. Barbara Austen, 0 ~ t, I ~ Principal l~ ~~P
