A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HANA LAULIMA LĀHUI
O KAʻŪ INC. FOR ITS 8th ANNUAL PRINCE KŪHIŌ DAY HO‘OLAULE‘A.
WHEREAS, Hana Laulima Lāhui O Kaʻū Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the development of a new economic base for the District of Ka‘ū that will enhance
economic growth, and promote a secure economic future for the community and the children of Ka‘ū, while preserving the rich Native Hawaiian cultural heritage and love for the ‘aina;
and
WHEREAS, Hana Laulima Lāhui O Ka‘ū Inc. is coordinating the 8th Annual Prince Kūhiō Day Ho‘olaule‘a, which will be held March 30, 2024, at Nā‘ālehu Ball Park; and
WHEREAS, the Ho‘olaule‘a is free, open to the public, and will include live music, hula performances, Hawaiian arts, crafts, games, workshops, demonstrations, cultural exhibits, and
a historical presentation to honor the legacy of Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole; and
WHEREAS, Hana Laulima Lāhui O Kaʻū Inc. is requesting funding assistance for advertising and the rental of a sound system and portable stage for its 8th Annual Prince Kūhiō Day Ho‘olaule‘a;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that enrich the lives of community members through alcohol-free and drug-free events; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Hana Laulima Lāhui O Ka‘ū Inc. for its 8th Annual Prince Kūhiō Day Ho‘olaule‘a.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
