A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GOING HOME HAWAI‘I
FOR ITS COMMUNITY-BASED REENTRY AND RECOVERY HOUSING PROGRAM IN KONA.
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to assist those that have been released from correctional institutions to reintegrate into the community; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i’s Reentry and Recovery Housing Program in Kona assists men and women with reintegration into community life through employment, housing, education, and appropriate
services; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i’s Reentry and Recovery Housing apartment complex in Kona is in need of a camera surveillance system for monitoring common areas to prevent incidents and deter
negative behaviors, all of which is conducive to maintaining a supportive environment for restoration and recovery, thereby promoting reintegration into the community; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai‘i is seeking funds to purchase a camera surveillance system for its apartment complex in Kona to ensure the safety and security of its program participants
and residents; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to improve the criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other criminal
justice agencies and the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide
a grant to Going Home Hawai‘i for its community-based Reentry and Recovery Housing Program in Kona.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
