A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND RESOURCE
CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 2024 KA‘Ū COFFEE FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the economic, cultural, and natural environment of
Hawai‘i Island through sponsorship of festivals, programs, and special events unique to this island; and
WHEREAS, BIRCDC is working in partnership with the Kaʻū Coffee Growers Cooperative to coordinate the 2024 Ka‘ū Coffee Festival, which will be held on June 1-8, 2024, in Pāhala and showcase
the culture, heritage, and natural beauty of Kaʻū; and
WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funding assistance for National and International marketing, content creator services to promote the festival on social media, administrative fees, and
printing of posters, banners, t-shirts, and rack cards; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports this event as it is in alignment with its goals and objectives of the department to increase consumption of local agricultural
and value-added products at local, national, or international levels; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council to assist with expenses related to the 2024 Ka‘ū Coffee Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
