Subject: Commercial Bicycle Tour Bill - testimony
Aloha,
I am strongly in support of restricting commercial bicycle tours along Kohala Mountain Road and the portion of Akoni
Pule that leads to Pololu. The dangers to cyclists are incredibly obvious to those of us who are familiar with those roads,
yet not so to the many tourists who are led to believe otherwise. That companies are able to do this is outrageous and
needs to be halted as soon as possible.
The Kohala Mountain Road is particularly dangerous, especially in the mornings when the sunlight is filtering through the
trees. Many times I have been surprised by the"sudden"appearance of cyclists who were not at all visible moments
before. I have been frightened many times and am only lucky not to have hit someone thus far.
