Aloha Councilmembers,
I strongly support Resolution 443 for a Puna water quality study. Puna Geothermal has been injecting
water into the ground for over 30 years. Before the eruption,they did this at the rate of 3,000 gallons of
water a minute.They say the levels of contaminants in the water are harmless. But they are planning to
expand operations,from 38 MW to 60 MW,which will mean more injection of water, and more
contaminants.With the safety of our drinking water and the health of our oceans at stake, a study of
water quality is a necessity.
