SUBJECT: Proposed Amendment to Resolution No. 449-24, Draft 2; a Resolution
Demonstrating the Aloha Spirit and Fostering Peace, Diplomacy, and Unity within
the County of Hawaii, the State of Hawaii, and Beyond.
Please see the following proposed amendment to Resolution No. 449-24, Draft 2. The
amendment is shown below in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Resolution No.
449-24, Draft 2; in which material to be added is underscored.
Resolution No. 449-24, Draft 2 is amended by adding a new WHEREAS clause to be inserted as
the fourth WHEREAS clause and to read as follows:
"WHEREAS, during times of conflict and war, there is a significant increase in the
incidence of sexual violence, hostage situations, and other human rights violations, leading to
humanitarian crises and making efforts to foster peace all the more necessary to prevent such
atrocities and uphold the dignity of all individuals impacted by armed conflict."
Due to the limited scope of the amendment, a copy of the new draft of Resolution No. 449-24
that would result if this proposed amendment were adopted is not attached.
