Aloha distinguished members of the County Council,
I'm writing in support of Reso.450-24 to allocate Geothermal Community Benefit Funds for
improvements at the William "Billy" Kenoi District Park.With these funds, Parks & Recreation will be able
to purchase timing systems and digital scoreboards for the Pahoa Aquatic Center, positioning our town
to host statewide and national swim competitions.
I like the idea that funds will provide for refrigerators, microwaves, and cleaning supplies for the
concession areas and gym.
And honoring the park's namesake, Mayor Kenoi,with a plaque commemorating his contributions, and
install a plaque and tree in memory of Aunty Madie Greene, a mana wahine who played a key role in
developing the park and supporting the Puna community.
