I am writing in support of Bill 140-24.
As a homeowner on the Red Road, I find it extremely inconvenient that the Kalapana Transfer Station is currently
only open on Saturdays, and no longer accepts any recycling.
I used to use it regularly, but now I find myself collecting garbage and saving it for my next trip to Hilo so that I can
drop it, and my recycling, at the Kea'au Transfer Station.
If I have too much to fit into my car, I can sometimes borrow a friend's pickup truck, but trying to borrow a truck on a
Saturday is difficult.
I hope that the Kalapana Transfer Station can be open at least two days a week and can once again accept
recycling.
