A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO EDUCATION
ARTS REPERTORY THEATRE FOR ITS “HEART: FREE CONCERTS IN THE PARK” SERIES.
WHEREAS, the Hilo Education Arts Repertory Theatre (HEART) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to present theater, offer arts education, and provide theater-going
opportunities to the community; and
WHEREAS, HEART has produced recent community showings of Beauty and the Beast, Biloxi Blues, Home for the HiloDays, LGBTQ Pride Day Concert, Cabaret, The Lion King Jr., and Grease; and
WHEREAS, HEART offered free, family-friendly community concerts at Lincoln Park last year and will be offering a similar series of five free concerts over the next few months; and
WHEREAS, HEART is requesting funding to cover the expenses for banners, costumes for the performers, rental of a rehearsal space, rental and operation of the sound equipment, and payment
for a musical director for its “HEART: Free Concerts in the Park” series; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports organizations that can provide diversified recreation programs that address the needs and interests of the respective communities
in a safe environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to the Hilo Education Arts Repertory Theatre for its “HEART: Free Concerts in the Park” series.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
