A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI‘I COUNTY ECONOMIC
OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES RELATING TO THE KEA‘AU FAMILY FUN DAY.
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to prevent, alleviate, and eliminate poverty on Hawai‘i Island;
and
WHEREAS, HCEOC partnered with Jarneski Rentals to host a Kea‘au Family Fun Day, which was a free, family-friendly, community event held on March 29, 2024, at Herbert Shipman Park; and
WHEREAS, the Kea‘au Family Fun Day included an egg hunt, waterslides, bounce houses, face painting, balloon artist, live music, food trucks, and picture taking with the Easter Bunny;
and
WHEREAS, HCEOC is requesting a reimbursement for the expense of hiring four special-duty police officers to ensure the safety of those attending the Kea‘au Family Fun Day; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide programs, projects, or activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to HCEOC for a reimbursement of expenses relating to the Kea‘au Family Fun Day.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
