STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> if wT.rN?'.....: <br /> �rE O �'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 481 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF HILO <br /> FOR ITS 20TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE EVENT. <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo, DBA Hawai`i Care Choices, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization that provides medical, social, and spiritual services for terminally ill patients at their <br /> end of life, as well as providing support to their families and caregivers; and <br /> WHEREAS, for the past 20 years, Hospice of Hilo has held its annual Celebration of <br /> Life event to raise awareness regarding end-of-life choices and to provide bereavement support, <br /> with this year's event to be held on May 26, 2024, at Reeds Bay Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS,the 20th Annual Celebration of Life is an event to remember loved ones that <br /> have passed and honor the life they have lived, as well as celebrate the diverse and rich cultural <br /> foundation of our island; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funds to assist with its advertising expenses <br /> for event banners; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that promote <br /> family-friendly events and activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo for its 20th Annual Celebration of Life <br /> event. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
