A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
ADULT CARE FOR ITS CARE-OKE FOR KUPUNA EVENT.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Adult Care (HIAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that has been providing services for kupuna, challenged adults, families, and caregivers since
1976; and
WHEREAS, HIAC is creating a signature event called Care-oke for Kupuna to help raise
funds for its adult day care program, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Sangha
Hall; and
WHEREAS, Care-oke for Kupuna is a free, family-friendly community event that will
celebrate music, singing, and caring for our kupuna through a community karaoke competition;
and
WHEREAS, HIAC is requesting funding to cover the expenses for the venue rental,
security, insurance, decorations, banners,posters, flyers, karaoke system with lights,
photography and photobooth, videography, and live streaming the event for those who are unable
to attend in person; and
WHEREAS,the Office of Aging has partnered with HIAC in the past and supports its
mission to optimize the health, safety, and independence of Hawai`i's older adults; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to
provide a grant to HIAC for its Care-oke for Kupuna event.
BE.IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the County Executive on Aging and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
