Aloha,
I am writing in support for Bill 144-24, on behalf of Ho'ola Farms, the Hilo food hub, and the Hawaii farm-
to-car online market.
We teach a four week beekeeping class in collaboration with Bird and Bee Hawaii,with a focus on
supporting our military veterans entering agriculture fields.
The current laws are a prohibitive obstacle for beginning beekeepers on Hawaii Island, and Bill 144-24
will make the positive changes that are community needs in order to support a successful and growing
apiary and honey industry on Hawaii Island.
Bees are such an important part of agriculture, not just for the honey industry, but for almost every
agriculture market that exists. Supporting bill 144-24 is a step forward and continuing to support the
Hawaii agricultural community.
