Subject: Bill 144-24, Relating to Apiaries and Beekeeping
Aloha,
I will not be able to attend in person the hearing at 10AM on Tuesday, April 2, during the Policy
Committee on Public Health, Safety &Well-being at the Hilo Chambers.
I am therefore submitting this email in favor of Bill 144-24 Relating to Apiaries and Beekeeping
which would be one step closer to allowing beekeepers to keep bees on other property not exempt
as agricultural,allowing hives to be kept 25 feet or more from a property line or main road
(currently, it is 75 feet and 1000 feet), and allowing homeowners with 20000 feet of property or less
to keep up to 15 hives.
