Subject: Bee Hives
Aloha, We live at Kona Plantation Estates Community Association and are having issues with the bee hives that have
recently been installed on the 4 acres behind our home. Bee droppings are constantly showing up on our lanai and pool
tile, as well as on our truck parked in the driveway. Some months ago, from a different bee colony, houses in our
Association were overwhelmed by bees showing up in ponds by their front door, and swimming pools. We talked to the
people in charge of the bees, and apparently because of draught, and the bees not given enough water, they found the
water they needed in our pools. When water was brought to the hives, the bees slowly disappeared back to their hives. I
found the YouTube below which helped me understand the challenges of having bee hives close to houses. I thought you
might find it of value. We are located on agricultural land, yet for years have had to put up with short-term vacation rentals
in our Association. It seems now we might have to put up with aggressive bee laws. Thank you.
