RESOLUTION NO. ` S8 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NORTH
KOHALA COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER FOR THE KING KAMEHAMEHA
DAY PARADE CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center (NKCRC) is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide local support, funding, and education for
successful projects that benefit the community of North Kohala; and
WHEREAS, although North Kohala is a small community, each year on June 11 " the
NKCRC puts forth a large grassroots effort to present a full day of celebration for the King
Kamehameha Day Parade Celebration that draws thousands of people to the northern tip of the
Big Island of Hawaii to honor King Kamehameha in his birthplace; and
WHEREAS, the NKCRC is requesting funds to purchase fabric for pa`u, publishing for
public notice of road closure, and a sound system rental for the event; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that provide
community events in a drug- and alcohol -free environments, such as the King Kamehameha Day
Parade Celebration; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAVI that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Conrol to provide a grant to the North Kohala Community Resource Center for the King
Kamehameha Day Parade Celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the teiiiis of this
resolution.
