RESOLUTION NO. 494 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII
COUNTY ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF
EXPENSES RELATING TO THE KEA`AU FAMILY FUN DAY.
WHEREAS,the Hawai`i County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing residents with access to economic relief
and opportunity to prevent, alleviate, and eliminate poverty on Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS, HCEOC partnered with Jarneski Rentals to coordinate the Kea'au Family
Fun Day, an Easter event that was held at the Herbert Shipman Park on March 29, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Kea'au Family Fun Day was free to the general public with fun
activities like egg hunts, waterslides, bounce houses, face painting, and picture taking with the
Easter Bunny; and
WHEREAS, HCEOC is requesting reimbursement of expenses for sound equipment,
security, easter eggs, candies, and small lunch boxes for community volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that
provide drug-free and alcohol-free events for the community; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i County Economic Opportunity Council for
reimbursement of expenses related to the Kea'au Family Fun Day.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
