RESOLUTION NO. 496 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI`I ISLAND
LGBTQ PRIDE TO SUPPORT ITS 12TH ANNUAL PRIDE FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island LGBTQ Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose
mission is to provide opportunities for youth and the community to gather together and celebrate
love, diversity, and equality; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island LGBTQ Pride's 12th Annual Pride Festival brings members
of the LGBTQ community together to affirm their fundamental rights and place in Hawai`i
County; and
WHEREAS,the 12th Annual Pride Festival will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at
the Mo`oheau Park bandstand; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island LGBTQ Pride is requesting funds to cover expenses for
sound equipment rental fees, volunteer materials, keiki area and activities, security, and porta-
potty rentals for its 12th Annual Pride Festival; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that promote
family-friendly events and activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island LGBTQ Pride to support its 12th Annual
Pride Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
