RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $750,000 FROM THE DANIEL R. SAYRE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation is donating $750,000 to the Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, this donation will be used for the design, permitting and other costs associated with the construction of a new multi-use community center/emergency shelter facility at Spencer
Kalani Schutte District Park; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawai‘i County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities,
or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai‘i County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a)
of the Hawai‘i County Code, the Council of the County of Hawai‘i accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Laura Mallery-Sayre, Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation,
P. O. Box 1285, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Department of Finance, and the Office of Management.
