COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAVI <br />RESOLUTION NO. SOS 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMAKUA HEALTH <br />CENTER, INC., FOR THE HONOKA`A HIGH SCHOOL 135 YEARS CELEBRATION. <br />WHEREAS, Hamakua Health Center, Inc. (HHC), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />that serves Hawaii Island by providing accessible, affordable, quality health care, and <br />educational services with an emphasis on individual and community wellness; and <br />WHEREAS, HHC is collaborating with Honoka`a High School to organize a 4-day <br />celebration, which will be held July 17-20, 2024, in Honoka`a town; and <br />WHEREAS, this celebration is open to Honoka`a High School Alumnus, as well as the <br />public, and will pay tribute to the institution that has served as a foundation of the community for <br />over 134 years; and <br />WHEREAS, the weekend activities will include a "Dragons Block Party", a parade <br />through Mamane Street, a music festival and a luau to celebrate 135 years of its existence; and <br />WHEREAS, HHC is requesting funds to rent an audio and visual sound system for the 4- <br />day celebration; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br />promote family -friendly events and activities in a drug -free and alcohol -free environment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief fiends from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hamakua Health Center, Inc., to help fiend the Honoka`a <br />High School 135 years celebration. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
