HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 502 Draft 01 2022-2024A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HĀMĀKUA HEALTH CENTER,
INC., FOR THE HONOKA‘A HIGH SCHOOL 135 YEARS CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, Hāmākua Health Center, Inc. (HHC), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves Hawai‘i Island by providing accessible, affordable, quality health care, and educational
services with an emphasis on individual and community wellness; and
WHEREAS, HHC is collaborating with Honoka‘a High School to organize a 4-day celebration, which will be held July 17-20, 2024, in Honoka‘a town; and
WHEREAS, this celebration is open to Honoka‘a High School Alumnus, as well as the public, and will pay tribute to the institution that has served as a foundation of the community for
over 134 years; and
WHEREAS, the weekend activities will include a “Dragons Block Party”, a parade through Mamane Street, a music festival and a lū‘au to celebrate 135 years of its existence; and
WHEREAS, HHC is requesting funds to rent an audio and visual sound system for the 4-day celebration; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that promote family-friendly events and activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Hāmākua Health Center, Inc., to help fund the Honoka‘a High School 135 years celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
