RESOLUTION NO. 504 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO '0 KA`U KAKOU FOR
ITS 2024 FAMILY FUN FEST AND INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, '0 Ka`u Kakou(OKK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that sponsors
and supports community activities in the district of Ka`u that enhance the quality of life for keiki,
kupuna, and businesses; and
WHEREAS, OKK coordinated its 2024 Family Fun Fest with an Independence Day
celebration set for July 6, 2024, in Na`alehu, featuring inflatable water slides and bouncy castles
for the keiki, and bingo games for all to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, OKK will provide lunch and refreshments for everyone as well as prizes for
the bingo games; and
WHEREAS, OKK is requesting funds to assist with the rental of the inflatable
equipment for the keiki, the cost of security officers, the purchase of food, drinks, and supplies
for this free community event; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this event as it is in
alignment with the goals of the department to promote safe and healthy community activities;
and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to '0 Ka`u Kakou for expenses related to its 2024
Family Fun Fest and Independence Day Celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
