/KT.. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII •� ?''- �/�• STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • <br /> OF-. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 506 24 <br /> A.RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E HAWAI`I TO <br /> ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS 2024 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION <br /> EVENT IN EAST HAWAI`I. <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches our <br /> youth to make safe and responsible decisions,to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and violence,to <br /> avoid risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E Hawai`i is conducting an East Hawai`i D.A.R.E. Day to celebrate <br /> the graduation of East Hawai`i students who complete the 10-week Drug Abuse Resistance <br /> Educational (D.A.R.E.) curriculum, scheduled for May 23, 2024 at Kawamoto Swim Stadium; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E Hawaii is requesting funds for expenses of rental fees for three <br /> (3) water slides and four (4) power generators; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to support <br /> community programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices, <br /> especially for youth; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to D.A.R.E Hawai`i for the aforementioned expenses <br /> related to its 2024 D.A.R.E Day Celebration event in East Hawaii. <br />
