RESOLUTION NO. 510 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIAKEA HIGH
SCHOOL FOUNDATION FOR THE 2024 WAIAKEA HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT
GRAD NIGHT.
WHEREAS,the Waiakea High School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that was established in October 2004 to administer grants to benefit students at Waiakea High
School to support their academic careers in varying fields,provide funding to service clubs to
kokua the community, and strengthen college readiness and robotics programs; and
WHEREAS, the Waiakea High School Foundation is collaborating with Waiakea High
School Parent Teacher Student Association on logistics for the graduating seniors at Waiakea
High School for the 2024 Project Grad Night; and
WHEREAS, Project Grad Night activities are designed to provide a healthy and safe
venue for graduates; and
• WHEREAS,the Waiakea High School Foundation is requesting funds to defray the cost
of transportation and activity equipment rental fees for the 2024 Project Grad Night for
graduating seniors; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs that
promote the health, education, and well-being of the youth in our community with alcohol- and
drug-free events such as graduation ceremonies; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waiakea High School Foundation for the 2024 Waiakea
High School Project Grad Night for graduating seniors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

OUT AND FROM:
010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC—Contingency Relief $3,000
CREDITED TO:
010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $3,000

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
